Paleolithic Cave Art was done with the basic chizzle and hammar. All of the paleolithic cave art was done in a simplistic manner, a sun could just be a circle, and water would be a couple waves. It all tells a story of what kind of world they were living back in the prehistoric period.

During the Paleolithic era, the cave paintings were made, by using the information. The pictures made on the stone walls could not have been paint to had stayed existing through present day discoveries. Small canals were dug into the walls by sharp steaks.

It's also important to note that early cave art was depicted to take advantage of the seams/cracks already present on the cave surface. If a certain line present on a cave surface reminded someone of an animal they would extended that line to complete their drawing. This saved time and effort. The method was also used for hand-sized scultures/paintings.

To add to what has already been stated about the paleolithic era, it was a means of advancement in times. The people of that time were so underdeveloped but searched for new ways to make things easier. Creation of new and better tools helped in carving and creating the cave drawings and also tools for hunting. Artistic expression emerged as well for the use of body paint and early rock paintings. Most of what was created as far are sharp objects derived from the sharding of stone into pointed edges and surfaces. Ex. The Pebble Tool Tradition, The Chopper-Chopping Tool Tradition, and The Acheulean Handaxe Tradition.

Like Xocasil said the rock art in the Paleolithic age was done using a chizzle and hammer. A lot of the wall art and murals were also done with chalk made from the humanoids at that time.

As nicki stated, the paintings were made as a means of information. They would also tell a story on a graphic stand point. Which helped with the study of the "Old Age of the Stone". They showed ways of living and hunting as well as what animals were around in that time period.

The cave dwellers used sticks and rocks to create the paintings and sculpters. They would used charred sticks, and they would take plants, berries, and flowers to create different colors. The cave dwellers knew how to pay attetion to detail. They knew what colors were needed to give the paintings a more lifelike look.

Paleolithic cave art was almost always away from the entrance. The techniques they implemented were by taking made tools, rather than found tools and chizzeling away at the site they may have felt was compelling them to make artwork of scared beasts, or what they would often hunt for food.
